Love LEGO building?  Love coding?  Join our after-school club where you will work in pairs to build different models each week with the WeDo2 kits and bring them to life using SCRATCH & the Lego WeDo 2.0 programming app. Also new for this half term, develop your coding skills to design and code your own animated games in Scratch and with the Microbits. Children can choose from a range of different kits and challenges each week.

These workshops will introduce students to basic block programming and automation using LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 kits and SCRATCH coding software.  They ignite an interest in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and provide a platform to extend young people's learning.  Most importantly, they are fun and exciting, allowing all involved to explore STEM subjects in innovative and inventive ways outside the curriculum.

Creativity and problem solving are encouraged throughout each session.  Topics covered include how to program and control motors, sensors and lights to bring models to life, types of movement, mechanisms, gears, pulleys, speed, engineering concepts and problem solving.  Computational thinking skills covered link to the NC and include automation, inputs, outputs, data processing, variables, sequences, loops and block programming using the WeDO2 app and for children with prior experience SCRATCH will be used. Students will work in pairs or small teams to complete set challenges, encouraging them to think and work as young engineers.  Great for allowing them to develop their team work and communication skills.  Each week there will be a range of different challenges for the children to choose from.
