Mondays : 3/6, 10/6, 17/6, 24/6, 1/7, 8/7, 15/7.    3:15pm - 4:45pm.  All children in Yrs 3, 4, 5, & 6 are welcome - no prior experience necessary.  There will be a range of different activities on offer each week depending on your child's past experience and level of knowledge and understanding.

Love robots?  Love LEGO building?  Love coding?  Then why not join our after-school club where you will take part in different fun-filled coding and engineering adventures each week.

These workshops will introduce students to basic block programming and automation using the Sphero Education programming app, the LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 kits, SCRATCH coding and BBC Micro:bit MakeCode programming language.  They ignite an interest in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and provide a platform to extend young people's learning.  Most importantly, they are fun and exciting, allowing all involved to explore STEM subjects in innovative and inventive ways outside the curriculum.

Creativity and problem solving are encouraged throughout each session.  Topics covered include how to program and control motors, sensors and lights to bring models to life, types of movement, mechanisms, gears, pulleys, speed, engineering concepts and problem solving.  Computational thinking skills covered link to the NC and include automation, inputs, outputs, data processing, variables, sequences, loops and block programming using the WeDO2 app and for children with prior experience SCRATCH will be used. Students will occasionally work in pairs or small teams to complete set challenges, maintaining social distancing and encouraging them to think and work as young engineers.  Great for allowing them to develop their team work and communication skills.
